The European Commission's decision on the planned hostile takeover by business software provider, Oracle of rival firm PeopleSoft has been delayed until mid-June, it emerged this week.
The EC was expected to rule on the antitrust implications of the takeover bid on May 11, but according to reports, is waiting for the software manufacturer to provide it with additional information.
Speaking to CNET News, Commission spokeswoman, Amelia Torres explained that: "As soon as the information is provided, we will restart the review."
The delay is likely to mean that the EC will be delivering its verdict at around the same time as the US courts hear a challenge to the deal being brought by the US Department of Justice.
