It emerged this week that Dubai World has published a new guidebook for marina developers, covering the planning, approval and design aspects of the process, amongst other considerations.
The publication, entitled 'Marinas and Small Craft Harbour Regulations and Design Guidelines' was put together by the Civil Engineering Department of Dubai's Ports, Customs and Freezone Corporation, with significant input from major marina developers in the area, according to reports in the regional media.
Speaking to the AME Info news service with regard to the guidebook, Chief Civil Engineering Officer, Nazek al Sabbagh explained that:
"Our publication serves many functions: It is regulatory in nature, laying down the CED's requirements in any marina development. It also serves the vital function of communicating with developers, consultants and contractors at every stage of development. This common understanding will provide for a smooth process of development, and positive working relations amongst all parties where roles are well defined and requirements clearly listed."
A new training and accreditation programme is to be launched in conjunction with the publication of the new guidelines.
