In an attempt to meet the government's demands to balance local budgets for next year, Denmark's local authorities have collectively re-evaluated their budgets which has led 53 districts to decide to raise taxes by 1.5 per cent for their unfortunate residents.
Of the remaining authorities, 212 have left their tax rates unchanged and 8 have decided to offer tax breaks of 0.3 per cent. On average, the authorities nationwide are raising taxes by 0.04 per cent from 20.71 per cent to 20.75 per cent.
According to local reports, Director for the National Association of Local Authorities, Anker Boye, described the authorities' budgets as 'a fantastic result.'
