Maltese Finance Minister, John Dalli this week issued a statement in which he condemned his Opposition counterpart, Leo Brincat for commenting too hastily on the government's management of the economy.
Speaking following the recent publication of revenue and expenditure figures to November, Mr Brincat expressed dismay at the size of the fiscal deficit, which then stood at Lm110 million. However, according to a Malta Independent report, Mr Dalli accused his opposite number of misleadingly commenting on the figures for the first 11 months of last year as if they represented the whole picture.
Mr Dalli's statement on the matter concluded with the observation that Mr Brincat should be well aware of the fact that most of the government's revenue is received at the end of the year.
