Online investors in the UK will soon be able to benefit from sophisticated analysis tools normally reserved for investment managers, it was revealed recently. Patrick Ide, head of marketing at DLJ Direct, which is part of the Credit Suisse First Boston group of companies announced that clients would soon be able to perform quantitative investment analysis, powered by Brainpower's Netxceed software.
Customers will be able to research companies by industry sector and by the five investment themes available: Value, growth, price momentum, bottom fishing, and best across board. Having found higher potential stocks to those in their portfolios, they will then be able to further research each alternative.
Mark Wells, the Chief Operating Officer of the investment analysis software developer, Brainpower, commented on the alliance earlier this week: 'We are pleased to have been able to complement DLJ Direct's offering with advanced and easy-to-use decision support analytics that private online investors are crying out for.' And crying out they have been. Following the nightmareish events of last year, many online investors have been reluctant to re-enter the ring without a far greater degree of hand-holding than was previously necessary, and online brokers are being forced to offer additional tools, analysis, and information in order to entice them back.
Despite the fact that times are lean, some of CSFB's staying power appears to have rubbed off on DLJ Direct, and they were recently voted the best overseas share dealing service by Shares Magazine, and the number one online broker by financial services directory, Find.co.uk.
