Speaking this week, director of the Dublin City Development Board, Peter Finnegan said that Irish companies needed to move fast to take advantage of opportunities provided by the markets of the newer EU member states.
According to an Irish Independent report, Mr Finnegan explained that many of the younger EU members were at a stage in their development where Irish companies could offer them many desirable products and services. He went on to observe:
"A year ago we advised Irish companies to immediately assess the opportunities and risks. These opportunities are being exploited each day by other states and companies - if Irish companies, both private and public, are not proactive they will miss out completely and these markets will be closed to us in the long term.
