A new national distribution centre inaugurated last week by Cyprus President, Glafcos Clerides, is being hailed as a major development for international business operations, as well as local industry. The Cyprus Trading Corporation (CTC) distribution centre - located in the Dhali Industrial Area - was opened at a ceremony attended by leading executives and international associates of the CTC and Shacolas groups, as well as business and public dignitaries.
The CY£5m project, occupying 30 acres with more than 7,000 square meteres of space in five different types of storage facilities, aims to facilitate the passage of "fast moving consumer goods." It is already being used by several of CTC's companies.
President Clerides was quoted in the Cyprus press as saying: 'This noteworthy centre adds a new dimension to Cyprus’ general effort to upgrade the foundations of commerce so that its development is not applied only to Cypriot tradesmen, but is also extended to international business operations.'
He continued: 'This is extremely important amid the drastic changes of the past decade and the globalisation of world economies that have made the business world more sensitive towards the structural change of markets since the rules of the competition game have significantly changed.'
