Cyprus Creates IP Promotion Team

According to a Cyprus Mail report published last week, an independent team of professionals in related fields has been assembled with the intention of promoting research and competitiveness through innovation and increasing awareness of the need for intellectual property (IP) protections.

The team members are independent volunteers, and include Constantinos Kittis, former Minister and Senior Corporate Strategy Counsel; Maria Kyriacou, barrister at law, former Registrar of Companies, Member of the House of Representatives; Costas Apostolides, economist, with wide experience in macro-economic studies and European programmes; Shavasb Bohdjialian, publisher and General Manager, ‘Financial Mirror’; and Vaso Rousounidou, European patent attorney.

According to the Cyprus Mail, the team's objective is to increase awareness of IP-related issues in academia, professional bodies and businesses, and to push for increased research and innovation in order to boost the island's competitiveness.
