During his official visit to the Republic of Armenia on May 21-23 the Croatian President Stjepan Mesic signed a convention for the avoidance of double taxation and fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between the two countries.
The Agreement was signed by Armenian Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan and the Ambassador of Croatia to Armenia Vesna Cvetkovic Kurelec. The two delegations also signed an agreement on cooperation in culture, education and science during the course of the visit.
When the DTAA is ratified by both governments and enters into force it will remove double taxation on trade and investment between the respective countries as well as constructing a beneficial legal framework.
It is hoped by the countries that the agreement will pave the way for better relations, particularly within political and economic spheres. Amongst the discussions, the two delegations focused on boosting tourism as well as discussing possibilities of cooperation within the framework of the European Union initiative, including the European Neighborhood Policy and other international structures.
