Costa Rica's state postal service, Correos de Costa Rica, launched a free e-mail service in May on its site, www.correos.go.cr, and will shortly be inaugurate a regional B2C portal.
Investors in the new project, apart from the postal service, include a number of private companies, and the health insurance fund Caja Costaricense de Seguro.
Costa Rica is making rapid progress with e-commerce, and has proven attractive to outside investors and e-commerce operators because of the availability of high-grade telecommunications links and skilled local staff.
