Conyers Dill & Pearman Tipped As Bermuda's Top Law Firm

It emerged last week that international offshore law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman (CD&P) has been ranked as Bermuda's leading law firm in an annual poll of global law firms.

Research into the strengths and reputations of lawyers in the Chambers & Partners Global Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers is carried out by a team of 30 full-time researchers over a period of 12 months, and for the 2004-2005 global directory, over 6,500 in-depth interviews with clients and lawyers were conducted covering 170 countries.

Law firms and individual lawyers are ranked on a scale of 1-6. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.

In addition to ranking as the top legal firm in Bermuda, where its head office is located, CD&P also rose up the ranks in the British Virgin Islands, rising from 3rd to 2nd place in the poll.

Ross Webber, head of the law firm's marketing department welcomed the release of the survey results, announcing that:

"It is extremely pleasing that our capabilities have been acknowledged publicly by clients, and it is clients who give the recommendations to respected publications such as Chambers & Partners. It is rewarding that the professional and diligent work of our attorneys is recognised and commented upon."

He went on to add:

"It is all well and good CD&P professing that we are the pre-eminent international offshore law firm, it is significantly more satisfying when that is reflected by an independent and un-biased source."
