Business services firm KPMG Malta has announced the staging of a one-day conference that will focus on regulatory developments and future growth potential in Malta’s financial services industry.
The conference, to be opened by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi on March 10, will bring together local and international financial service industry representatives, with a keynote speech scheduled to be delivered by Brendan Nelson, global head of financial services at KPMG.
A presentation by Joseph Bannister, chairman of the MFSA, on the regulator's agenda for the Maltese financial services industry will also be delivered at the conference.
The financial services sector is playing an increasingly important role in the Maltese economy, and according to KPMG, the industry now accounts for 12% of the jurisdiction’s gross domestic product, and employs around 5,500 people.
