A report in Ireland's Sunday Independent has raised concerns regarding the government's slow progress in putting together a board to prevent potential conflicts of interest when civil servants take private sector roles.
Although an ethics board was officially established fifteen months ago to examine such appointments for potential conflicts, the newspaper revealed that no meetings have yet taken place, and no departing officials have been investigated.
A spokesman from the Department of Finance was reportedly unable to explain the delay, but stated that the board was still expected to commence operations.
