Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe has begun a campaign to promote the ratification of an outstanding Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Canada.
Mr Uribe landed in Canada on June 9 to begin the campaign, which will involve his attendance at the 15th International Economic Forum of the Americas in Montreal - where he will join 150 of the world's political and economic leaders - and a meeting with Canadian government officials, including the country's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.
The meeting between the two countries will focus on the issues surrounding the pending FTA, which was originally signed in 2008. Ratification can only be complete once the Canadian Parliament has given its approval.
Mr Harper has urged his country's Parliament to speed up the passage of the deal.
