Clydesdale Bank International has announced the opening of its new offices in St Peter Port, Guernsey. Although Scottish bank Clydesdale, a subsidiary of National Australia Bank, already had a presence in Guernsey, the move marks the beginning of a ‘dedicated operation’ to diversify its business into the field of offshore banking.

The newly established Guernsey team is to be headed by Managing Director James Blower. In a statement at the operation’s launch Blower said:

“Although Clydesdale already had a presence in the island, the opening of a stand-alone business here signifies our commitment to and confidence in Guernsey.”

“Our heritage is strong and we benefit from our AA- credit rating and our parent company’s AA rating. The success of our first few months has already shown that we are well positioned to take advantage of the many opportunities that exist at this challenging time.”

“Our approach to banking is very much relationship-focused and this is certainly central to everything we do.”
