According to reports in the UK legal media, the City of London Law Society (CLLS) has been given the mandate to represent the majority of City law firms when lobbying the government with regard to the reforms recommended by Sir David Clementi.
The Legal Week news service revealed that at a meeting last week, 22 City firms tasked the CLLS with representing their views. A working party has been established to draft an initial response.
CLLS chairman, David McIntosh explained to Legal Week that:
"The CLLS received a mandate to heighten its involvement and fill the representational gap between the self-sufficiency of City law firms and what the national body is doing."
