China Will Increase Stimulus Spending If Necessary

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao has announced that the government is poised to increase its economic stimulus package should the economic climate worsen.

The Prime Minister made his announcement at a recent meeting of the National People's Congress, where he stated that the country has "adequate ammunition" to bolster the economy.

The Prime Minister had said earlier in the month that the country's CNY4 trillion (USD585bn) economic stimulus package would not be increased.

It is hoped that the Prime Minister's assurance will restore confidence in the country's stock market.

China is expected to see a fiscal deficit of around 3% this year.
