China To Disclose Stimulus Package Spending

by Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

03 March 2009

The Chinese government is preparing to unveil details of how it has used its CNY4 trillion (USD585.5bn) economic stimulus package after the country's citizens demanded greater clarity on spending.

Government officials announced the stimulus package in November of 2008, but details of how it has been used have failed to emerge, prompting public interest in the issue.

In light of this, the Vice Minister of the country's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Mu Hong, has announced that details will be published on the NDRC's website.

The government is also thought to be considering a second stimulus package, in support of the first.
