Cendant Mobility, a unit of Cendant Corporation of the US, has acquired Hamilton Watts International (HWI), an Australian company specialising in providing expatriate management services and corporate relocation management in Australia and across Southeast Asia. Cendant already has Asian operations based in Hong Kong and with this deal will expand its offices into Australia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Cendant Mobility has paid approximately US$12 million for HWI, which will now trade as Cendant HWI. Prior to the agreement, HWI was the largest member of Cendant Mobility's network of destination services providers, GlobalNet. Cendant HWI will have 45 employees and 100 relocation consultants. Its major clients include Telstra, BHP, Philip Morris, Ford Motor Company, BP Australia Limited, Boeing, National Australia Bank and Intel.
Cendant Mobility, a specialist in international assignment and relocation management, serves, among others, the corporate, military and government relocation sectors, as well as providing consulting services. Cendant Mobility's president and CEO Kevin J Kelleher said of the transaction: 'Our acquisition of Australia's largest and most successful global mobility firm dramatically expands our strategic presence in Southeast Asia and will allow us to provide our clients with vertically integrated services as HWI becomes part of the Cendant Mobility organization. This addition to our worldwide family clearly represents a solid platform for our future growth and added benefits to our global clients and assignees.'
John Arcario, senior vice president and general manager of Cendant International Assignment Services, added, 'As a GlobalNet member, HWI has demonstrated a stellar track record, having provided quality service to our clients and their assignees over the past five years. This acquisition reaffirms our commitment to remain the foremost provider of mobility services worldwide and we are proud to welcome them to our family.'
Archie Fraser, Director and CEO of HWI, said of the deal: 'We are excited to join forces with the world leader in the global mobility market and look forward to incorporating our capabilities and geographic base into Cendant Mobility's vast array of services and worldwide coverage.'
