The top management of the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands (MACI) was recently in Italy to sign an agreement with Registro Italiano Navale (RINA), the Italian marine interests classification society.
"In order to effectively expand our capabilities on a worldwide basis, we have official affiliations with seven global Class Societies, thus enabling them to act on our behalf," explained MACI CEO, Mr A. Joel Walton, head of the Cayman delegation, which also included Mr Alfred Powery, Director of Global Commercial Services; Mr Kenrick Ebanks, Director of Global Operations; and Mr Greg Evans, Director of Global Safety and Compliance.
Mr Walton added:
"MACI has a broad global network of Cayman Islands Shipping representatives, in addition to George Town and UK-based maritime professionals who travel extensively, but our agreements with the various prestigious classification societies give us even more reach in effectively and efficiently servicing our valued clients' needs."
The official signing took place last month at RINA headquarters in Genoa, Italy. Signing on behalf of that organization was RINA's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ugo Salerno.
The Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands is the parent organization of the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, which has nine worldwide locations. In addition to George Town Headquarters, the other locations include Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; London; Southampton (European Regional Headquarters); Monaco; Athens, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, a Category 1 member of the prestigious "Red Ensign" Group, is currently the world's leader in the registration of mega-yachts.
