Cayman Islands Set To Give ‘Business As Usual’ Message To Offshore Community

by Amanda Banks, Tax-News.com, London

06 October 2004

Eduardo D'Angelo Silva, President of the Cayman Islands Bankers Association, will later this month reassure the international finance community over the state of the Cayman Island’s offshore industry post Hurricane Ivan, according to a local news source.

Mr Silva’s last minute inclusion as a speaker at the upcoming OffshoreAlert 3rd Due Diligence & Asset Recovery Symposium in Florida is intended to “clear up the confusion that currently exists in the international marketplace” over the condition of the Cayman economy and finance sector after the devastating impact of the storm last month, says David Marchant, OffshoreAlert's publisher.

"Mr. Silva's address will be an opportunity to send out a 'business as usual' message to the global financial community and boost confidence,” noted Marchant.

The conference is scheduled to take place from the 13th to 15th of October and features former ‘rogue trader’ Nick Leeson among its speakers.
