The Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association (CIBA) announces that it will hold its 9th Biennial Conference on March 24th and 25th, when a group of highly regarded international speakers will converge to address the theme 'Cayman Islands - The Offshore Solution'.
The theme of the 2003 conference focuses on the pressing global issues facing the Cayman Islands including ongoing OECD and FATF initiatives. The conference will address these ongoing macro issues in addition to the more pragmatic issues facing financial services professionals on a day-to-day basis.
A variety of leading edge regional speakers have been confirmed to discuss topics from a Caribbean perspective while a group of international industry experts will present on macro issues facing the Caribbean banking community. Chris Mathers, head of KPMG’s Global Forensics Unit, will capture the essence of the conference in his keynote address 'Crime – 20 Years Hence, What Role Will Offshore Jurisdictions Play In Crime and Enforcement'. Mr. Mathers is an internationally recognized speaker in the areas of money laundering, financial crime and terrorism.
Dr. Gilbert NMO Morris, Gilbert Morris Associates Ltd, will address the issue of corporate ethics post Enron in his session entitled 'Corporate Ethics – The New Landscape'. Delegates will also be provided with an overview of the commercial factors and marketing challenges facing trustees in the offshore world and the issues going forward when Peter Larder, Bank of Bermuda and the International Trust Companies Association, presents 'The Challenges Ahead for Offshore Banking and Trust Companies in an Increasingly Hostile Environment'.
