Cayman Finance Appoints Interim Chairman

Cayman Finance – the promotional agency for the islands' financial services industry - has announced the appointment of an Interim Chairman, in Roy McTaggart, to replace the outgoing Chairman Anthony Travers, with immediate effect.

The appointment follows the resignation of Anthony Travers who recently stepped down as Chairman after two years. McTaggart’s appointment will focus on assisting the Association whilst a permanent Chairman is sought. An Executive Committee has been also been established to assist McTaggart in his role and will provide the required strategic direction as well as dealing with organizational issues. This committee comprises Daniel Scott (Ernst & Young), Nick Freeland (PricewaterhouseCoopers), Gonzalo Jalles (HSBC) and Peter Cockhill (Ogier).

Roy McTaggart, CPA, is the Managing Partner at KPMG Cayman and has over 25 years' experience in providing assurance services to the hedge fund, captive insurance and offshore banking industries. McTaggart also acts as the Risk Management Partner with the responsibility for the professional risk management process for the Cayman and British Virgin Islands offices.

McTaggart is a member of the Florida and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants; is council member of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants; and is a member of the Financial Services Council, an advisory group to the Cayman Islands government.

Welcoming his appointment, McTaggart said: "I am pleased to accept this role which will provide continuity of service whilst a permanent appointment is made.  We are working with the Financial Services Commission and with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority to help ensure that there is an articulate and sophisticated understanding of Cayman's positive role in international finance."
