At the end of December CariBiss Inc launched Caribusiness.com, an Internet platform on which Caribbean businesses can sell goods and services. The service is intended to enhance the development of e-commerce in the region.

Anthony Drigo, Chairman and CEO, said of the new service: 'Caribusiness.com is intended to be a platform from which e-commerce will be launched, from which Caribbean businesses can develop affiliation with other Caribbean businesses outside the region wishing to do business with the region.'

Caribusiness.com claims to make e-commerce easier and costs begin at just US$50 a month. Caribusiness also provides real time, secure transaction processing. The company said in a statement that it intends to 'use the intellectual capacities of our people overseas to contribute to the development of the region, they are about converting situations of shortcomings into business opportunities, using information technology to find solutions to existing issues.'

Mr Drigo added: 'We are committed to stay on the cutting edge so that we can be first to market, our clients can be first to market so that the products of our clients can be world class. We have a thirst for knowledge hence we have the advantage of knowing what is out there.'
