Channel Island law firm, Carey Olsen was last week recognised by judges at the international Lawyer Awards ceremony held in London.
The firm's litigation team in Guernsey was shortlisted with five UK law firms and came third overall, behind the UK giants Freshfields and Ince and Co, and ahead of other well known UK law firms on the shortlist including Norton Rose and Pinsents. No other law firm in the Channel Islands or indeed offshore was shortlisted.
The Guernsey team was recognised for its work on Technocom v RCO & Mr K, with the judges stating that it stood out as a striking example of how an offshore practice can handle global litigation.
Speaking following the ceremony, senior partner of the firm's litigation group, John Greenfield announced that:
"We are delighted to be recognised ahead of many UK law firms. The case was the biggest in Guernsey last year and the award recognises the very high standard and capability of our litigation team."
