The Canadian government has announced that negotiations with the Caribbean island of Dominica has culminated in the signing of a Tax Information Exchange Agreement on June 29, 2010. Negotiations between the two parties commenced on March 11, 2010.
The agreement promotes transparency and effective information exchange, in line with theOrganisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's standard. The agreement provides for the mutual exchange of tax information available to the respective territories’ tax authorities to facilitate civil tax matters and in the investigation of tax crimes.
The Canadian government said that the agreement will enter into force immediately after both countries have completed their individual ratification procedures.
