Canadian personal financial services group, Investors Group, launched a campaign last week to 'help Canadian investors succeed in uncertain markets'. The campaign, called "Tame the Beast" aims to steer investors away from the pitfalls of market uncertainty by getting them to use sound financial planning techniques.

Sandra Metraux, Senior Vice President of Strategic and Corporate Marketing at Investors Group, said: 'Canadian investors have felt the effects of a highly volatile market over the past year and it has caused many people a lot of anxiety. Investors Group wants to remind Canadians that year in, year out, a long-term perspective and a disciplined financial plan consistently helps our clients to achieve financial independence through every kind of market.'

Investors Group (www.investorsgroup.com) consists of a network of over 3,400 consultants providing financial planning advice to more than one million Canadians. As well as offering mutual funds and other investment vehicles, the organisation offers a range of mortgage, insurance and brokerage services.

Metraux commented: 'Investors Group's long history has proven that a consistent focus on long-range objectives, rather than short-term gains is the key to building and managing personal wealth. Our investment managers focus on sustainable, long-term performance backed by proven investment techniques.....Our Consultants are backed up by a solid, well respected team of specialists in tax, retirement, estate planning, mortgages, insurance and investments. They work closely with clients to set financial goals and create a written plan and encourage clients to take a steady, balanced and disciplined approach to investing.'

Metraux concluded that when these principles are applied over time, the result is the preservation and growth of individual wealth in bull or bear markets.
