Appleby Spurling Hunter, one of Cayman's largest law firms, has joined private industry efforts to support the public image of Cayman's financial services sector by recently becoming a member of the Cayman Islands Financial Services Association (CIFSA).
CIFSA, a group formed by a number of entities from the Cayman Islands private sector to "communicate the integrity and quality of Cayman Islands financial services" is currently mounting a major membership drive after a successful international public relations drive during its first 18 months.
According to Mr Eduardo D'Angelo P. Silva, CIFSA Director, this marketing drive can only be helped by Appleby's decision to throw its weight behind the campaign.
"Appleby has proven itself time and time again to be a good corporate citizen and an important player in the local financial services industry and we are very pleased that they are supporting the efforts of the Cayman Islands Financial Services Association," he stated.
The Association says that its website has received over 815,000 hits and just under 45,000 visitors since March 2004.
Mr Bryan Hunter, Partner, Appleby Spurling Hunter praised CIFSA for its achievements in a relatively short time span.
"We are impressed with both its objective to communicate the quality and integrity of the local industry at the international level and its achievements in such a short time frame" Mr Hunter noted.
"The challenge for the organisation will be to utilise these new-found resources to increase the reach of the message into areas that have been previously untapped," he added.
CIFSA has so far received this year similar membership contributions from over 10 financial services firms across a wide range of service offerings including banks, law firms, accountants and mutual fund administrators.
The Cayman Islands Financial Services Association (CIFSA) was formed in November 2003. It comprises individual companies and key associations including: the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants (CISPA), the Cayman Islands Compliance Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Cayman Islands Fund Administrators Association, the Company Managers Association, the Bankers Association and the Insurance Managers Association.
High profile firms from the financial services and legal industries are also represented, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, HSBC, and Walkers.
