The Cayman Islands Financial Services Association has announced this week that it has added Meridian Fund Services and Greenlight Reinsurance, Ltd to its association.

Founded in November 2003, the Cayman Islands Financial Services Association (CIFSA) was formed to represent Cayman’s financial services industry, and to promote the jurisdiction as a quality international financial services centre.

2008 has been a particularly noteworthy year for CIFSA in terms of activity, especially in terms of their involvement in the Financial Services Domestic Awareness Campaign, the goal of which is to educate the community, visitors to the Cayman Islands and students, about the financial services sector and the many benefits and opportunities that it creates in Cayman.

Earlier this year, CIFSA announced its highest recorded membership, with 43 member organizations - 37 private sector members and 6 association members - registered as of April 2008.

Several important CIFSA members have also played a role in the campaign by being monthly sponsors, such as Cayman National Bank, DMS Management Ltd., Julius Baer, Deloitte, Butterfield Bank, KPMG, The Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants, Scotia Bank, Aon Cayman National and the Cayman Islands Insurance Association.

Cary Marr, President of Meridian Fund Services (Cayman) Limited said of their involvement:

"We are pleased to become part of CIFSA. We have seen the significant contributions to improve the international and local perceptions of the financial services industry and we look forward to supporting their continued success.”

Faramarz Romer, the Reporting and Compliance Officer of Greenlight Reinsurance, Ltd. added:

“Whilst the growth in CIFSA’s membership and international profile in recent years is impressive, we applaud CIFSA’s commitment in protecting and promoting the financial services sector of the Cayman Islands. Greenlight Re is pleased to support CIFSA in its efforts in educating the public about the social and economic impact that the financial services sector has on the Cayman Islands.”
