CSFBdirect-eUnion has launched its online brokerage in the Middle East giving investors access to US equities. Claiming to be the first to offer online brokerage services to the region, CSFB Middle East president, Ali Zahed, told the Gulf media: 'CSFBdirect-eUnion aims to rapidly become the leading online brokerage services provider and the source of financial information for investors in the Middle East and North Africa.'
Zahed says that, increasingly, expatriates in the region are looking to the US markets and his company can help them do that. 'Moreover,' he claims, 'with the under-performance of the thousands of mutual funds the world over in recent times, the new trend is that investors themselves directly invest in the companies that perform well. CSFBdirect-eUnion would offer them the right platform.'
The new service enables investors to manage all their portfolio needs online including opening accounts, transfering securities or cash, withdrawing cash and accessing help files.
