Butterfield Bank has announced that it has been named ‘Bank of the Year 2006’ in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands by The Banker magazine.
It is the fifth consecutive year that Butterfield Bank has received the award in Bermuda, and the third time it has received it in Cayman. It also represents the third internationally recognised award that the Bank has received in 2006.
“Butterfield Bank is pleased to once again be the recipient of The Banker’s ‘Bank of the Year’ awards in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands," commented Alan R. Thompson, the Bank's President and CEO.
“The success we have enjoyed is a direct result of the efforts of our employees who have worked hard to integrate new businesses, introduce innovative products and services and strengthen relationships with our customers," he added.
The Banker, a highly regarded UK-based publication, each year selects banks in over 100 countries to receive their ‘Bank of the Year’ awards. In making their selections, The Banker’s global editorial team considers not only a bank’s financial performance, but also strategic initiatives, innovative use of technology and commitment to human resources initiatives. A full listing of ‘Bank of the Year 2006’ award winners will be published in the December edition of The Banker.
Earlier in the year, Butterfield was named ‘Best Bank in Bermuda’ for 2006 by both Global Finance and Euromoney.
Bermuda’s first and largest indigenous bank, Butterfield is a specialist provider of offshore financial services. The bank also offers a full range of community banking services in Bermuda, Barbados and the Cayman Islands, encompassing retail and corporate banking and treasury activities.
