The governments of Pakistan and Brunei have agreed on a draft for a Convention on Avoidance of Double Taxation after a second round of negotiations which took place in Pakistan earlier in the month.
Agreement was reached following discussions between a three-member Brunei tax delegation headed by Pg Haji Mumin, Director of Special Duties (Revenue), Ministry of Finance and a Pakistani delegation headed by Muhammad Faiyaz Khan, Member (Direct Taxes), Central Board of Revenue, Pakistani media reported.
According to a press release issued at the weekend, the negotiations were held in a "cordial and congenial atmosphere," and both sides hoped that the tax agreement would act as a platform for trade growth.
Brunei also recently signed a double taxation avoidance agreement with Singapore.
