According to the results of research commissioned by The Alternative Investment Show, Britons are increasingly asking their Independent Financial Advisors for advice on alternative assets and are turning their back on more traditional forms of investment such as stocks and bonds.
The results of a survey of 50 IFAs found that 70% were experiencing more demand for information on alternative assets as investors grow disenchanted with stock market investing as a result of poor and negative returns, TIAS, an annual industry conference, found.
A telephone poll conducted by TIAS of 1,000 Britons found that the average level of investment in alternative assets stood at £78,000, suggesting that some 6.2 million people hold £486 billion in both financial and tangible asserts such as property, wine and antiques.
Whilst property has become particularly alluring given the house price inflation, TIAS expected growth in demand to continue across the spectrum of alternative investments.
