US aviation manufacture Boeing has received a tax refund from the Internal Revenue Service amounting to over $1 billion, the company announced on Tuesday.
The refund, which includes interest payments, relates to a partial settlement for tax payments made between the years 1992 and 1997 and totals approximately $1.1 billion.
According to the firm, the settlement will boost its fourth quarter 2003 net earnings by some $700 million, which investors will be pleased to discover will equate to roughly $0.87 per share.
