The Bermuda-based Bank of Butterfield has launched its first Internet banking service. According to a press statement released by the bank last week, the new service is a secure platform from which account holders can view their accounts in most currencies and offers them 'the power, control and convenience of managing their money on their time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.'
Entitled "Butterfield Direct Internet Banking", the new service also enables registered users to access their account information via different categories such as chequing, savings and loans. They also can use the service to pay bills, transfer funds and request cheque books. Bulk payments, electronic data interchange functions and 'dual authorisation' which authorises transactions online are among the services available for the bank's corporate clients.
Ed Benevides, vice president of e-commerce at the bank, said: 'Butterfield Direct is an innovation that adds more value to the bank's existing services and reinforces our commitment to meeting our customers' needs - anyone, anywhere, anytime.'
