Financial services group Barclays recently launched an integrated banking and wealth management service in the Gulf. The 'Relationship Management Service' will be provided through centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is available to all Gulf residents who place UK£100,000 (or equivalent) on deposit with Barclays.

The move follows in-house research, which showed that 70% of 'International Premier' clients believe a relationship manager is key in helping control their financial planning. More than half (54%) confirmed that they wanted advice on money management and support to control their personal finances.

Catherine McDowell, director, Barclays International Premier Banking, said the service includes a selection of lifestyle benefits, such as a property management service, emergency assistance, hotel discounts and global country guides.

"Relationship managers combine their knowledge of international citizens' lifestyles and financial priorities with Barclays' global resources to offer a truly personalised service," she said.

For the first time clients will be able to do their banking through a dedicated telephone service, carry out multi-currency banking via the Internet and access relationship managers who provide a full financial planning service.

"Clients in the Gulf region will now have the flexibility to tailor their banking to meet their needs," said Robert Clark Head of International Premier, Middle East.
