A seminar hosted by the Central Bank of Barbados on Tuesday brought together a number of international financial experts to discuss the Caribbean capital market and its place in the global economy.
Bank Governor Dr. Marion Williams announced that the event has “managed to attract a cadre of Caribbean and international financial experts”, including: Dr. Carl Ross, Senior Managing Director, Bear Stearns and Company; Ms. Marie Cavanaugh, Managing Director, Standard and Poor’s; and Mr. Steve Bideshi, Managing Director, Citibank, Trinidad and Tobago.
She added that the presentation was of “immense interest and relevance to bankers, economists, investment managers, brokers, financial and economic consultants”.
Among the topics discussed by the panel were the outlook for global exchange and interest rates, the role of ratings agencies in the development of the international capital markets and a commercial bankers’ perspective on the issuing and trading of commercial bonds in the Caribbean capital market.
