In a recent editorial the Nassau Guardian contradicted reports carried in the Financial Times that the Bahamas was planning to introduce taxation.
According to the Guardian, Financial Times reporters who had interviewed Sir William Allen, Minister of Finance and Planning had misquoted him - Financial Secretary at the Ministry, Ruth Miller, said she had heard a recording of the interview between Sir William and the reporters from the Financial Times and it was clear that he had been misquoted. "It was either a misquote or a clever way of interpreting something".
