The CS Calvina, a 37,000 dry bulk carrier, is the latest vessel to be registered on the Bahamas Ship Registry, one of the world's largest with vessels totalling over 52m gross tons registered.
The CS Calvina was launched in China in mid-July and will join the fleet of Campbell Shipping Company Limited, a Bahamian company which operates from the Campbell Maritime Centre, West Bay Street. GTR Campbell, another Bahamian-based company, supervised the construction of the CS Calvina, which was built by the Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co. Ltd.
The registration of the vessel is another significant addition for the fast-growing register. Its reputation for quality and excellence - which has seen it included in the Qualship 21 white list, and annual registration fee structure targetted at international shipping companies has established it as one of a number of leading registries of choice for many of the industry's biggest players.
The Fleet includes a wide cross section of ship types and nations, and is renowned for being 'young'; in fact, the BMA actively discourages older vessels from joining the Register.
As part of its further expansion, the registry has announced that both its Greece and Hong Kong offices are to be fully operational by the end of this year, which is expected to allow the registry to further expand by some 10%.
