Representatives from the financial services sector in the British Virgin Islands met with officials from the newly established BVI Finance Centre for the first time last week.
The Centre was launched on July 30, and is designed to promote the islands' financial services sector to an international audience, and to enhance the degree to which the industry contributes to the jurisdiction's economy.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister and Minister of Finance, Ralph T. O'Neal stressed the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors if the new drive to promote the jurisdiction on an international level is to be a success:
'The more that BVI business seizes the opportunity of working actively together with the Centre in a true public-private partnership, the greater the bottom line impact for the whole BVI financial services industry will be,' he observed.
