Representatives from the government and the financial services sector of the British Virgin Islands recently held a presentation and reception in New York designed to highlight the advantages of doing business in the jurisdiction.
Speakers at the presentation included Chief Minister and Finance Minister Dr Hon. Orlando Smith and Ronnie Skelton, and Managing Director and CEO of the BVI Financial Services Commission, Robert Mathavious.
The presentation was reportedly attended by around 70 senior New York financial services practitioners.
Speaking following the conclusion of the event, the BVI Chief Minister observed that:
"Bringing a large and senior BVI delegation to New York allowed us to reaffirm the public and private sector's commitment to the continued growth of the financial services industry in BVI. I am delighted to have been able to show the support of the Government by appearing before a prestigious audience in New York."
