The British Marine Federation (BMF) has ensured that the marine sector has been represented in the UK Parliament once again with its latest submission to the Business and Enterprise Committee of the House of Commons.

By submitting a briefing during discussions of the Committee's report on Financial Support for Small and Medium sized Enterprises, the BMF has ensured that the important issues surrounding access to credit and permanent reduction of corporation tax have been brought to the forefront.

The BMF briefing includes a detailed and accurate account of the economic situation of the leisure marine industry. It aims to highlight to government the need for accessible credit, outlines some measures which could help the industry and re-affirms the importance of stimulating business within the UK for the survival of the sector.

Howard Pridding, Executive Director of the BMF commented:

“It’s as important as ever to provide the leisure marine sector with a strong voice in Parliament. The unprecedented economic climate means that the industry is not only competing in difficult circumstances but also in a political environment where government resources are stretched thin. I’m delighted that our continued and sustained efforts in lobbying are yielding results and I’m determined that the work we do for the industry with government generate tangible benefits for our members. We’re currently continuing our work on the Marine Bill in addition to nine other consultations.”
