According to a US government report the latest events in Australia which has seen the Australian online gambling industry being thrown into a state of turmoil as the Government passed the Interactive Gambling (Moratorium) Bill 2000 in December could lead to long established online gaming sites in Australia such as Lasseters (www.lasseters.com.au) moving its business offshore.
Amongst the regions said to be considered are South Africa, Vanuatu, US Indian reservations and Gibraltar. The companies are believed to be planning a move due to the freeze on further development and the possibility that online gambling will be totally banned as of May next year in Australia.
