Australia has triumphed at the recent ISAF Sailing World Cup Standings, finishing with three gold medals.
The six-day racing event was held in Port Philip Bay, in Melbourne.
Australia's team - Sail Melbourne - was comprised mainly of top, Olympic-standard individuals, a few of whom had competed on behalf of their country in previous years.
Despite competitors from Chile, France, Great Britain, Spain and the USA all succeeding in securing gold medals, Australia managed to come first in the medal standings, beating the others with three gold medal victories.
The second event of the ISAF Sailing World Cup - the Rolex Miami OCR - will be held in North America between January 25-31, 2009.
