Dubai-based arabia.com has signed a major strategic three-year renewable partnership with Compaq Middle East to improve Internet access and facilitate its applications throughout the Middle East enabling the company to further strengthen its market hold in the region. According to the agreement announced earlier this week, Compaq will provide increased distribution for arabia.com services and applications including the bundling of arabia.com CDs, containing a variety of software along with its computers across the region.
Compaq will also provide arabia.com with the hardware, system integration and related Information Technology services required to support their operation, and arabia.com will move its site and services onto a Compaq infrastructure and technology platform.
In a statement released by arabia.com, CEO Ramzi Zeine, said: 'Arabia.com's mission is to continue to be the favorite online destination in the region, where Arabs can meet, learn, play and transact. Our partnership with Compaq will help us achieve this objective, by considerably increasing our distribution, and providing Arab Internet users with arabia.com key products directly, with their Compaq computers. This strategic partnership with Compaq is also a recognition by the major global IT vendors of arabia.com's leading position in the region.'
Joseph Hanania, Managing Director of Compaq Middle East, added: 'Our partnership with arabia.com, the leading on-line destination in the Arab world confirms Compaq's strategy to redefine the Internet experience by providing users with innovative Internet access devices and broadband communications technologies to seamlessly and securely link with data rich servers and storage, providing 24x7 infrastructure.'
He added: 'Compaq is a global provider of technology solutions and we provide arabia.com with complete Internet infrastructure requirements, 'powering' one of the most heavily visited sites in the Middle East region with high-performance products and related I.T. services.'
