The UAE Ministry of Economy is hosting a ground-breaking intellectual property forum in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday and Wednesday, it has emerged.
Commenting ahead of the launch of the First Arab IP Forum, which aims to bring together practitioners, executives, entrepreneurs and respected authorities in the field of intellectual property rights (IPR) and enforcement, UAE Economy Minister, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi explained that:
"The Forum will focus on Anti Piracy and Counterfeiting issues particularly the enforcement of IP rights and combating the flow of counterfeit products. The Forum will also address Electronic Commerce, IP and Arbitration matters relating to Cyber Crime Laws and exploitation of Domain names as well as the use of IP in Franchising and Brand Management techniques that build successful businesses."
She continued:
"I believe that by addressing such topics the government and the private sector in the Arab world can cooperate to reach common goals that will help build a secure IPR environment that will increase market confidence and productivity, realize economic development and support trade exchange with other countries."
