Appleby Spurling Hunter, based in Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands, has been recognized as a leading offshore law firm in a number of recently released international publications.
Chambers and Partners Global Directory has ranked Appleby Spurling Hunter as the number one law firm in Bermuda, and the firm was the only one to receive rankings in all three of the key offshore jurisdictions of Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the BVI.
According to the recently released online version of the directory, the firm's top ranking is down to its “excellent staff, good coverage and a strong brand" which all combine to make Appleby “a top-class offshore law firm”.
Individual attorneys were also singled out for praise by the directory, while the company had the most number of attorneys recognized of all the Bermuda firms under review.
In addition, Appleby has once again been given top spot in the International Financial Law Review online listings of recommended firms, with clients endorsing the firm's “extremely high standards".
Meanwhile, an issue of The Lawyer last month listed Appleby as tied for a 4th place ranking of all offshore law firms based on the number of partners in the firm.
Additionally, Appleby's Hong Kong office was recommended by the annual Legal 500 ratings for offshore legal services.
Commenting on the firm's glowing publicity in the international legal press, Global Managing Partner, Peter Bubenzer, observed that: “We hear more and more of an emerging 'magic circle' of offshore law firms and we are very pleased to see all of these publications rank our firm as one of this elite group."
"We are particularly gratified to see the continued affirmation of the expansion of Appleby following our recognition in 2005 as the Offshore Law Firm of the Year," he added.
The Appleby Spurling Hunter group, which has more than 430 lawyers and staff, focuses on four major areas: corporate & commercial, litigation & insolvency, trusts, and property.
In addition to its presence in the major Caribbean offshore business jurisdictions, the firm also has offices in the financial centres of London and Hong Kong.
