Anglo Irish Bank is set to launch an online banking facility from its Isle of Man operation known as 'Anglo-Connect' which is due to go live today.
The bank's head of client relationships, Mark Gaywood told Isle of Man Online recently that the growing desire of both local and international investors for internet communications was a primary factor in the bank's decision to launch the website, although he stressed that it will only augment - not replace - the existing lines of communication.
"This is a first for our Isle of Man operation," Gaywood told IoM Online. "It provides 'real time' information for clients to view their account balances and transactions, keep track of payments, as well as print off certificates of interest," he continued.
Gaywood added that the outlook for Anglo Irish on the Island is very positive, and he revealed that the bank intends to recruit more staff in the near future, in addition to other general infrastructure spending. He also noted the bank's strong share price performance in recent months which has risen 30% since last May, compared with a 16% fall in the UK market during that time.
