Online retailing giant, Amazon.com on Thursday found itself on the receiving end of a business method patent lawsuit, following the firm's instigation of a similar case against Barnes&Noble.com in 1999.
According to reports, a suit filed in the US District Court of Chicago on Thursday by technology firm, Pinpoint, alleges that Amazon has infringed on personalisation technology patents held by the smaller firm.
Several of Amazon's affiliated partners, such as Target and Toys R Us were also named in the suit, which centres on a service which allows e-tailers to offer items to returning customers based on their previous purchases and preferences.
