Arkin Sports and Leisure Limited announced this week that it was granted a full eGambling Licence by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission at the Commission’s April meeting.

“Alderney provides the right technical environment for the continued expansion of Arkin's TheBetArena online betting and gaming operations.” said Arkin’s Chairman Mr. Erbil Arkin. “As a responsible operator we believe that properly regulated licensing contributes to international development and we are delighted to have been approved by this leading authority.”

Robin Le Prevost, Head of E-Commerce Development for Alderney added that Arkin is a very welcome addition to the growing number of Alderney’s eGambling Licensees, having recognised the unique advantages that the jurisdiction could offer. ‘Alderney is a Global Jurisdiction rather than just a locally focused entity, providing a perfect bridgehead not only into Europe but also into other markets, much further a field, and this is why we are seeing unprecedented growth. The value of the Alderney kite mark is clear to players and operators internationally.’

At the March meeting of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, WagerWorks (Alderney) 7 Ltd, amongst others were granted a full eGambling licence, adding to the stable of licenses held in conjunction with WagerWorks, the most prolific of Alderney’s growing list of licensees.

Paul Mathews, President of WagerWorks Inc., commented: “Alderney Gambling Control Commission provides the strictest and most comprehensive gaming regulations and as such is widely recognised as the most reputable online gaming jurisdiction. This provides an excellent fit with WagerWorks’ unrivalled regulatory position.”

Robin Le Prevost added: ‘WagerWorks and Alderney have a long-standing relationship born out of a mutual interest in protecting the reputation of the jurisdiction and the industry. We are aware that when WagerWorks has an opportunity to create a new business partnership, it has a choice of several jurisdictions. However, Alderney has now proven itself as a first tier jurisdiction offering the industry a commercial realistic regulatory regime, unbeatable technical infrastructure and a highly efficient tax environment.”

Last January, Alderney, which has a thriving e-gaming sector, was represented at the ICEi exhibition during the week of 22nd January at Earls Court in London. Robin Le Prevost remarked; ‘We have been aiming to do this for some time and whilst we had some of the team in Barcelona last autumn during the EIG exhibition, this is the first time we have been able to take major stand space in co-operation like this and it is very exciting’. He continued ‘We have a lot to say about the unique capabilities of Alderney in terms of why it is the fastest growing Tier 1 jurisdiction and we have many new developments to talk about. We are seeing a lot of interest in Alderney and the team recognises that we all have a part to play in building this very important sector in our economy’.
